The Jubbaland military court has sentenced two former members of the Jubbaland army to five years in military prison for selling weapons to the Al-Shabaab militant group.

After several hearings into their cases, the court found Mohamed Adan Sahal and Muse Mohamed Nur guilty.

The Chairman of the Jubbaland Armed Forces Court, Colonel Abdullahi Mahmoud Ibrahim, announced that both men had been sentenced to five years in prison each.

The court also presented the firearms that the men had sold to Al-Shabaab, which were later returned to the Jubbaland government by their families.

The court session was attended by the two Deputy Chairmen of the Court, Jubbaland Armed Forces Prosecutors, and the defendants’ families.

Colonel Ibrahim emphasized that anyone dissatisfied with the court’s ruling could file an appeal, provided it complies with the law.
