Puntland Regional State Planning Minister Mohamed Said Faroole has accused President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of involvement in deadly inter-clan fighting in the Mudug region.

Minister Faroole wrote on Twitter on Sunday that Saturday’s clash between two clan militias from Galmudug and Puntland signalled the onset of a third war in Galkayo between the Puntland and Galmudug regional states.

“The link between President Mohamud and Mudug conflict between Puntland and Galmudug is undisputed. Today’s attack in Goldogob by the Galmudug militia marks the beginning of 3rd war – the previous two occurred in 2015 and 2016 during Mohamud’s first term. He is synonymous with conflict and corruption in Somalia”, he wrote on his Twitter feed.

Nearly ten people have lost their lives, and more than ten others have been wounded in the inter-clan conflict in the Galdogob district of the Mudug region. The dispute began over grazing land in the area.
