Somali National Army (SNA), supported by local clan militia forces, successfully captured Wabho, a strategic district located in the Galgadud region.
The country’s Ministry of Defense spokesman, General Abdullahi Ali Anod, confirmed the liberation of the district and several adjacent villages after a rigorous military operation. Wabho had remained under the control of the extremist group Al-Shabaab for several years.
“Today, the army has seized control of villages, including the district of Wabho, a significant urban center with access to water sources and extensive pasturelands equivalent to a district. They also secured the village of Jaaw, where the enemy had a presence and fake courts. The wives of the group’s leaders were also resided in the areas,” he stated.
Furthermore, General Anod revealed that the military had also retaken Daadale, Gal-Qoryaale, and Bidde Isse, all of which were residential areas where al-Shabaab had formerly extorted money from the local populace and public vehicles.
