Investigation launched into suspicious death of Somali woman in India

A 35-year-old Somali woman was found dead in the bathroom of her house in the north of Hyderabad, India.

Her husband, Liban Abdi Ali, stated that he found his wife bleeding in the toilet and immediately took her to a private hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The couple had arrived in Hyderabad on March 21 on a health visa, seeking fertility treatment. The deceased woman was under medical care at a private hospital in Secunderabad, the twin city of Hyderabad.

The Banjara Hills police have registered the case as a suspicious death under section 174 of the Indian Penal Code. The body of the woman has been sent to Osmania General Hospital for an investigation into the cause of death.

Osmania General Hospital (OGH) is one of the oldest hospitals in India, located at Afzal Gunj, Hyderabad.
