Somali Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre met with outgoing United States Ambassador to Somalia Larry Andre in Mogadishu today.
The meeting focused on the relationship between the two countries and cooperation in security, counterterrorism efforts, economic development, debt relief, and strengthening multilateral support from the United States government for the Somali government.
Two weeks ago, US President Joe Biden nominated Richard Riley as the next US Ambassador to Somalia.
Riley will serve as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, replacing Larry Andre, who has served as the US Ambassador to Somalia since January 2022.
