Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud appointed four deputy governors and secretary-general for the Banadir region following a decree issued by Villa Somalia on Sunday night.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud appointed Mohamed Ahmed Diriye (Yabooh) as the deputy Mogadishu mayor on security and political affairs, replacing Ali Yare Ali, a close ally to the former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.
Ali Yare Ali has held the position for the last three years.
Issa Mohamud Gure was appointed as the Deputy mayor of administration and Finance, while Abdiaziz Osman Mohamed was appointed as the deputy mayor of social affairs.
Hassan Mohamed Jimale was appointed by the President as the deputy mayor of public affairs, while Faisal Araale Afrax was appointed as the general secretary of the Banadir region.
The appointment comes just two days after Mogadishu’s new mayor, Sheikh Hussein Jimcale, fired several district commissioners in the capital as part of a district reshuffle.
