Over 40 Somali nationals have safely evacuated from Ukraine while more others are still on course while their documentation is completed, the Somali Ministry of Foreign affairs has said.
The ministry said in a statement on Saturday that 40 Somalis have successfully crossed to Poland while four others have also made their way into Germany.
Additional seven will arrive in Poland when the documentation is completed, the Ministry said noting that it has facilitated 24 Somalis to acquire documentation in the past 48 hours.
The Somali government has also urged its nationals who were pursuing studies in Ukraine to apply for consideration in Romania, Serbia and Hungary adding they will also receive consular services in the host countries.
The evacuation follows week-long fighting in Ukraine by Russia.
