Heavy blowing winds have today morning destroyed and felled Radio Kismayo antenna mast when most of the Radio Station staff were at the station, taking the State-owned Radio station off air.
There were no casualties during the early morning incident at the station and to the nearby community within the vicinity of Radio Kismayo station.
The Radio antenna mast and a part of the building in which the antenna mast was erected was partially damaged.
The neighboring Jubbaland Parliament building was also not spared in the damag, part of the parliament building was also damaged after the antenna felled on it.
Radio Kismayo is currently off air as the management are said to be in full throttle to restore the normal broadcasting services of the Radio station which commands an extensive listenership in the Jubbaland state.
Radio Kismayo management and the Jubbaland Ministry of Information are working round the clock to get the station back on air for its normal programming.
