President Farmajo lauds repatriation efforts of Somali nationals in Libya by Chairman of the Presidential Council of the Libyan state

The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has today telephoned the Chairman of the Presidential Council of the State of Libya, Dr. Mohamed Yunis Al-Manfi and thanked for his role in repatriating Somali nationals stranded in Libya.

The two Presidents reaffirmed the long-standing ties between the two fraternal peoples and the cooperation between the two governments in the areas of security, regional stability and the fight against terrorism and migration.

Dr. Mohamed Al-Manfi has expressed the respect and admiration of the Libyan people for their Somali brothers and reaffirmed his commitment to the Somali people trapped inside his country.

The Federal Government of Somalia has in recent years made significant efforts to repatriate Somali citizens held in foreign prisons, with many now living in freedom and dignity in their home country of Somalia.

Nearly 100 Somali migrants who flown in to Somalia on Tuesday through a private Jet from Libya after being held in detention camps in Libya on their desperate journeys to cross over to Europe.
