President Farmajo calls on regional state leaders to implement election agreement

Outgoing Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has urged regional state leaders to implement their agreed election timetable.

Tye President made the remarks at a speech on the overall situation in the country and the Somali elections.

The Somali President praised the significant achievements made in the rebuilding of the Armed Forces and commended them for their selfless defense of the country and their struggle against terror threats.

“Our efforts and successful plans to rebuild the Armed Forces have led to our heroic forces being able to take over the security of the country today and we are finalizing the plan to take over the security of the country from AMISOM”.

President Mohamed Farmajo talked on the country’s foreign policy process, which he said is based on cooperation and respect for the international community, the protection of the country’s honor and sovereignty, which he further said has led to the prominence in the international arena.

“Our independence-oriented foreign policy has led to our prominence in international forums, such as membership in the UN Human Rights Council, which we won for the second time, as Vice President of the General Assembly. We are now a candidate for the AU and United Nations Security Council “.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo welcomed the outcome of the Consultative Council conference in Mogadishu and urged the Somali people for maintain unity and solidarity as the key to the existence and national strength and noted the role of the Somali youth in the unity, governance and defense of the country.
