Residents of Goobweyn, who depend heavily on agricultural production, have been provided with agricultural inputs and equipment, Goobwyn District Commissioner Omar Abdullahi has confirmed to Radio Kismayo.
The agricultural inputs and equipment, which included pumps for irrigation, pest control, fertilizers and drilling equipment was provided to 60 farming families by the Jubbaland Ministry of Environment and Tourism in collaboration with the children rescue agency in the UK.
Mohamed Ibrahim, a farmer in Goobweyn who talked to Radio Kismayo said the equipment is of immense importance to farmers in Gobweyn in resulting to sustainable agricultural production in the area.
“This is a good intervention for us as farmers in Gobweyn.the equipment will helps us abundantly in boosting agriculture here in Gobweyn,” Said Mohamed Ibrahim.
Athough there has been very little rain in the recent rainy season, Farmers in Goobweyn area have been in dire need of agricultural supplies and equipment, according to another farmer in Gobweyn, Abdullahi Hajar Roble.
Goobweyn Chairman, Omar Abdullahi told Radio Kismayo that the agricultural inputs and equipment will benefit farmers in Gobweyn and make the place an agricultural sufficient area.
