Sudan’s Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok has announced his resignation amid widespread protests against military rule.
The military launched a coup in October and Mr Hamdok was placed under house arrest at the time, but was reinstated the following month after signing a new power-sharing deal.
Demonstrators opposed to the status quo have recently continued to patrol the streets demanding civilian political leadership.
In a televised address yesterday, Mr Hamdok said a new agreement was needed for Sudan to move towards democracy.
