Two thousand families displaced by the ravaging drought in parts of Jubbaland state have today received food aid rations consisting of essential commodities such as Rice, Flour, Sugar and Oil courtesy of a grant from the United Arab Emirates.
Some of the drought-affected people who benefited from the food aid expressed their gratitude saying it came at the right time.
“We are grateful to the donors and we really needed this food aid. It’s a big intervention,” Said Hassan Omar, one of the beneficiaries.
Kismayo District Commissioner Omar Abdullahi Mohamed thanked the UAE brothers for the donation and instructed humanitarian agencies to do whatever they can to reach everyone affected by the biting drought situation.
“Am calling on everyone who can afford it and the humanitarian agencies to help the drought-affected people of Jubbaland state,” Said Kismayo District Commissioner Omar Abdullahi Mohamed Faraweyne.
