Somali government issues statement on arrest and detention of Somali nationals in Ndola, Zambia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somalia has issued a statement on the arrest and detention of Somalis living in Ndola, Zambia.

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that investigations were underway into the motives behind the arrests, which were based on “confidentiality”.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is closely following reports of mass arrests of Somalis in Ndola, Zambia, regardless of nationality, which is a matter of concern. It is currently working with the Zambian government to find a solution to this dilemma, ”The ministry said in a statement.

Hundreds of people including Somali nationals in Ndola have been arrested in recent days for allegedly resisting trade.
