Somali Prime Minister calls for an immediate end to hostilities in Galmudug regional state

Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has issued a statement on the tense situation in Galmudug state after Ahlu Sunna clerics took full control of Guriel.

The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia has strongly condemned the ongoing violence in Galmudug.
The Prime Minister offered his condolences to the victims of the clashes and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
“There is a state in Galmudug that has full legitimacy and is responsible for the security of Galmudug areas, so any action that appears to be disrupting Galmudug should be avoided. Anyone with concerns should find a solution.
We must stop armed mobilization and illegal attacks that threaten stability, law and order,” Said a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.

He added, “The Galmudug leadership has a responsibility to maintain peace, order and unity among the people of Galmudug and to resolve conflicts and other non-violent issues as soon as possible”.

The Somali premier has called on all Galmudug residents, administration and people to join hands and unite in the fight against Al Shabaab terrorists and anyone who threatens the stability, governance and development of Galmudug.

Tension still remains high in Galmudug regional state of Somalia following the capturing of Guriceel district by Alhu Sunna on Friday.

The Ahlu Sunna Wal Jama’a militias are said to have taken control of Guriceel town from Govt forces.

The Sufi militias who are known to be Al-Shabaab’s arch enemies also reportedly seized 3 vehicles, weapons from govt forces.
