The Minister for Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Hussein Haji has received in his office the Turkish Armed Forces Special Representative for Somalia.
The Minister for Defense and the officials discussed the strengthening of military cooperation between the Governments of Somalia and Turkey.
The Minister thanked the Turkish government for its efforts to build up the Somali government forces and for its unwavering support to the Somali nation.
Turkish officials have said they will double the training and equipment of Somali government forces in the fight against Al-Shabab terror militants.
The Turkish government is one of the main donors to Somalia and provides training and equipment to hundreds of Somali soldiers yearly.
