Hundreds of heads of state are in New York City this week at the UN headquarters for the Annual General Assembly.

The high-level General Debate started on September 21 and lasts until September 27.

Although the event was held almost entirely virtually last year because of the pandemic, many leaders are delivering in-person speeches at this year’s summit, including US President Joe Biden, who made his first address to the 193-member world body since he took office.

Vaccinations for COVID-19, climate change, and Afghanistan are just some of the topics highlighted at this year’s meeting.
