The Minister for Communications, Posts and Technology of the Jubbaland State of Somalia has today visited private telecommunications centers in Kismayo in response to the implementation of the Jubbaland Telecommunications Law.
The visit of the delegation led by the Minister for Communications of Jubbaland state, Abdirashid Mohamed Duale was aimed at strengthening cooperation between the government and private telecommunications companies.
The Minister visited two telecommunications companies today namely SOMNET Telecommunication Company and SOMTEL and observed the services these companies provide to the community.
The CEO of SOMTEL Telecommunication company, Abditajir Muhumed Qaliif, welcomed the minister’s visit at the telecommunications offices and reassured the company’s commitment in working with the Ministry.
“We highly welcome the Jubbaland Minister’s visit to our Communications offfices today and we are willing to closely work with the state governmentand line Ministries as we strive to create a lasting telecommunications impact in the community ,” Said Abditajir Muhumed Qaliif.
The CEO of SOMNET telecommunications company Kismayo, Munir Sheikh Qadar said the company is grateful for the ministry’s special visit.
“We are really happy for this special visit to our offices. Our joy is indescribable. It is a great pleasure for the minister and the ministry to come together and visit us,” Said Munir Sheikh Qadar
The Minister for Communications, Posts and Technology of the Jubbaland state, Abdirashid Mohamed Duale said telecommunications play an integral part in a country and thus inspection of private telecommunication centers operating in Kismayo was imperative.
“Our visit is part of a series of inspections and assessments we have made in recent days against telecommunications companies operating in Kismayo. We have previously visited Hormuud, Amtel, and SOMNET and this is aimed at closely working with these critical telecommunications companies,” Said Abdirashid Mohamed Duale.
