The governor of Puntland’s Mudug region, Abdilatif Muse Nur said security apparatus have stepped up security operations in Galkayo, which has recently been the scene of several planned attacks.
He said that the plan is geared towards preventing the Al-Shabaab islamist group from carrying out terror activities.
He added that the terror group wants to commit acts of insecurity in Galkayo, and that security agencies are always ready to provide security throughout Mudug region and hence the carrying of weapons and arms in Galkacyo has been banned.
The statement from the governor of Mudug region in Puntland state comes against a backdrop of intensive operations by Puntland and Galmudug forces have been conducting operations against Al-Shabaab in recent months in abid to region of terror menace.
