Hour-long mediation talks between Somali president and his premier ends in a deadlock

An hour-long mediation meeting was held yestersay at the Somali Presidential Palace between the outgoing President of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.

Yesterday afternoon, the Presidents of Galmudug and South West regional states met with the Somali Federal President and the Prime Minister, discussing a host of issues critical to the two leaders and the nation at large.

Later, committees from both sides met but are yet to produce any results.

According to reports from the meeting, the Somali President and his Prime Minister are in a difficult position, and the points of contention include the case of Ikraan Tahlil for an independent inquiry into the case of the Judiciary and the case of the national intelligence and security agency (NISA) Director.

The sources added that President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo rejected the two points presented by his premier insisting that negotiations could not take place, while the Prime Minister stood his ground which resulted in the talks not yielding any results and ending in a deadlock.

Today’s dialogue between the side of the Somali president and the state president of the South West regional state is set to continue in a bid to reconcile President Farmajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Roble’s wrangles.
