The Jubbaland Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources (MOFMR) has issued a warning to fishermen and other residents living on the Lower Jubba Islands as well as those who go for swimming on beaches of Kismayo due to harsh and stormy winds.
Stormy winds and heavy rains are currently being experienced in Kismayo town.
This has made worse the stormy winds emanating from the sea which has wrecked havoc and destroyed Residential houses adjacent to the beaches of Kismayo sea, leaving behind a trail of destruction.
The Chairman of the Jubbaland Fishermen’s Cooperatives, Abdirahman Mohamed Farah said the current state of the sea and the challenges that fishermen face are immense and called on fishermen to stay away from the sea for their own safety.
Jubbaland Deputy Minister for Fisheries Mohamed Omar Buuno also warned fishermen in the Lower Jubba region as well as people living on the islands to trade carefully saying that caution was needed during this harsh climatic conditions at the sea.
