Ethiopian police say they have arrested more than 300 people suspected of supporting rebels in the northern region of Tigray.
The men were arrested in the capital, Addis Ababa. Police Chief Getu Argaw said the doors were slammed shut in businesses suspected of belonging to the detainees.
Human rights groups say some of those arrested were beaten and taken outside Addis Ababa. However, authorities have denied any wrongdoing in the incident.
Several troops from the Ethiopian regions have been deployed to the Tigray region to fight the Tigray rebels who have seized large swathes of territory in recent days.
