The Jubbland Ministry of Women’s Affairs has organized a workshop aimed at educating traditional elders, women’s organizations and female candidates to ensure the 30 percent quota for women.
The meeting which concluded today in Kismayo has being going on for days to sensitize and educate women on their due rights as enshrined in the constitution.
Women’s organizations members and other renowned Jubbaland leaders took part in the two-days workshop.
Ugas Omar Hirey, the spokesman for the Jubbaland administration, who gave a short speech at the workshop has pointed out that it is important to ensure and implement the 30% quota for women and urged women to show themselves and be aware of their quota representation.
During the workshop, discussions were held on how women can achieve their rights.
Challenges facing women and their allocation of 30% quota was also widely discussed during the two-day workshop in Kismayo.
The workshop was closed by the Jubbaland Women’s Minister, Ms. Adar Ismail Juraati, who stressed the need to continue promoting women’s rights in the Jubbaland regional state of Somalia.
