Jubbaland Minister for Justice and Religious Affairs Mohamed Sheikh Yusuf Omar has today visited the Kismayo central prison to asses the prison conditions and its inmates.
He was accompanied by Jubbaland Deputy Minister for Justice and Religious Affairs Abdinur Hussein Ibrahim, the Director of the Jubbaland Ministry of Justice and Religious Affairs Badal Jama and other members of the Jubbaland Ministry of Justice.
After the inspection and the assessment of the prison, the Minister and his delegation were taken through the general routines as well as the conditions of the prison and that of the prisoners in the prison by the Commander of the Corrections Department Mohamed Aqib Hirsi
Jubbaland Minister for Justice and Religious Affairs said the purpose of the special assessment visit is to to keep the ministry abreast of the prison conditions and find ways to help the inmates in the prison department.
The Jubbaland Ministry of Justice and Religious Affairs is working to rehabilitate prisons departments and other facilities in the Jubbaland region, with the help of the Somali business community in Jubbaland, UNSOM, ISRS, ICR and SWSO.
