The President of Jubaland State of Somalia, Ahmed Mohamed Islam has tiday received at the Jubbaland presidential palace a delegation led by the United Nations Special Representative for Somalia, James Swan, as well as the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for Somalia, Ambassador Francisco Caetano Madeira and members of the European Union and IGAD.
The meeting discussed the situation in the country and electoral issues, with officials from the international community thanking Jubbaland state President Ahmed Mohamed Islam for his commitment to holding the country’s elections in a consensual manner and expediting important work.
It was agreed to in the meeting that regular meetings will be held as well as consultations on electoral issues while also acknowledging the country’s importance to expedite the electoral process.
