The Arab League foreign ministers are expected to hold an emergency meeting in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday.
A recent statement from the Arab League Council stated that the meeting will review the latest developments in the GERD Dam issue.
Arab League Under-Secretary-General Hussein Zaki told the Middle East News Agency (MENA) that the meeting at the Foreign Ministry level came at the request of Egypt and Sudan, which are concerned about the dam.
Ethiopia will have a significant impact on its water share from the Nile River.
Egypt and Sudan have long been concerned about their share of water, after Ethiopia began construction of a dam on the Blue Nile in May 2011.
