Sudan claims control of some parts of Ethiopia

Sudan and Ethiopia have been at loggerheads since November last year, as tensions escalated over repeated attempts to mediate between the two governments.

Amhara militias have often resisted Sudanese forces who have seized large swathes of territory, according to residents of al-Fashqa’s suitable farming area.

Sudan claims to have seized 90% of the disputed territory, but Ethiopia has described it as a “clear blow”.
