The African Union (AU) has castigated the decision by the Federal Government of Somalia to replace the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC) for Somalia, John Mahama.
Chairperson of the African Union and Spokesman for the President of the DRC, Felix Tshisekedi said that the request of the Somali government to replace John Mahama will consult the AU member states.
Felix Tshisekedi also expressed concern over the African Union’s approach to resolving the dispute over the upcoming elections in Somalia, which has yet to be agreed upon by government officials and regional administrations.
The Federal Government of Somalia has stated that John Mahama cannot be neutral in the upcoming elections in the country and that they need to be changed, at the request of the African Union.
