The Shabelle River has flooded the town of Jowhar, the administrative capital of HirShabelle this morning, and the town is reported to be in a state of isolation.
The entire town is flooded and the airport in Jowhar is completely closed, with only boats being used to enter the town.
Hir-Shabelle Administration Minister for Relief and Disaster Management Abdimahad Abdullahi told VOA that Jowhar was in a difficult situation, noting that all traffic in the town had been disrupted.
“The town of Jowhar is in a state of flooding, with the Shabelle River flooding which brought a lot of water from the two streams of Baarey and Mookey”, Said Abdimahad Abdullahi.
