The outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the Presidents of Galmudug, South West, Hir-Shabelle and the Governor of Banadir are scheduled to meet today at the Aficioni Camp Center for the second day.
The informal conference was not attended by the presidents of Puntland and Jubbaland regional states, who said they would not attend the conference until the agenda for the conference was corrected and the February 19 incident in Mogadishu was resolved.
Yesterday’s meeting was attended by the outgoing Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, his premier Mohamed Hussein Roble, the Governor of Benadir Region and the supporting regional administrations.
A brief statement from the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that they were aware of the conference, which opened yesterday, but that it was important that the informal meetings continue.
The international community is working to bring the Somali leaders closer together in one table including the presidents of Puntland and Jubbaland States.
