Former Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has strongly criticized the current situation in Gedo region, accusing the Somali government of wreaking havoc in Gedo region.

He said it was impossible for the federal government to say that Gedo region was not part of the Jubbaland administration and that they wanted to control the upcoming elections.

He accused government officials of continuing political oppression in Gedo region and called on President Farmajo to back off.

The situation in Gedo region has been under intense scrutiny in recent months and tensions are rising these days with the Somali government deploying large numbers of federal troops to Gedo region.
