Jubbaland Ministry of Finance holds a 3-day report findings dissemination workshop on the analysis of border crossing points between Somalia and Kenya

The Minister for Finance and Economic Development of the Government of Jubbaland, Ahmed Abdirisaaq Mohamed (Handal), today chaired a workshop on the analysis of border crossing points between Somalia and Kenya where report findings were presented for analysis.

The forum was attended by the Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Internal Security of Jubbaland, the Minister for Public Works, the governor of Middle Jubba, the Chairman of Civil Society Organizations, the Directors of the Ministries of Finance, Interior Affairs, Security and other officials.

The workshop discussed findings of a study conducted on the flow of trade, customs administration, security and economic infrastructure at the border between the two countries.

The workshop was led by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development of the Government of Jubaland and funded by the UK Government.

The workshop comes after an agreement between the two countries of Somalia and Kenya agreed to reopen the border points for ease of trade and development of border customs. Somalia recently joined the East African Community (EAC).

The workshop participants contributed suggestions to the conclusions of the report findings that were presented and practical points emerged to implement it.
