Burgaabo Island, south of Kismayo, is currently experiencing devastating winds and acute water crisis that has had a devastating effect on people and animals at a time when most of the drought-stricken areas have reached the island.

Speaking to Radio Kismayo on phone, the chairman of Burgaabo Island, Ayub Ahmed Mohamed has confirmed the news of the dire situation in the area and said that the people of the area need immediate help and assistance.
He confirmed that around 300 people including women, children and the elderly are faced with critical situation.
“It is a sad and unfortunate situation for the people living in these areas as a whole and the people are nomadic and most of their livelihoods depend on fishing and other resources along the coast. Urgent help is required for this people,” Said Ayub Mohamed.
