Somalia, UN discuss electoral issues

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Government of Somalia, Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud in Washington DC met with the Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations, Nicolas De Reviere.

The two officials discussed the importance of holding the elections on time and the transfer of security responsibilities to the Somali National Army while fully implementing the transition plan and restructuring of the Armed Forces.

France’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations has called on Somali leaders to complete the process of the upcoming elections, which need to be transparent.

Somali Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud thanked the Ambassador for his continued support to the Somali people and state-building in Somalia.

There are growing calls from the international community for Somali leaders to complete the elections in Somalia as soon as possible this year.
