The delegation of the Jubaland Government, led by the First Vice President Mr. Maxamuud Sayid Aadan, has launched a comprehensive peace-building initiative aimed at addressing ongoing threats in the Gedo Region.

The delegation, which includes representatives from both houses of the Jubaland Government, the regional administration, and local government officials, has made significant strides toward fostering stability and security in the area.
In a statement issued on Monday, the delegation confirmed that a peace conference will be held on April 15, 2025, at the Gedo Regional headquarters in Garbaharey. The conference will serve as a platform for discussions aimed at tackling the region’s challenges and promoting sustainable peace efforts.

In addition to the peace-building initiative, the delegation called on the Somali Civil Aviation Authority to urgently reopen the airport in Doolow, which has been closed for an extended period. The closure, which has left the town without access to air travel, remains unexplained, and local leaders are seeking clarity on the matter.

The committee also expressed its gratitude to the Doolow district administration, security forces, and the local community for their effective management of a recent unfortunate incident involving military personnel who were given an incorrect order.
The incident, which caused concern among locals, was handled with professionalism and collaboration between the community and authorities.
As the delegation moves forward with its plans for peace and stability, the people of the Gedo Region remain hopeful that these efforts will bring lasting improvements to the area.
