Jubbaland government slams FGS for “illegal ” deployment of troops in Ras-Kambooni, says FGS is creating instability in Jubbaland state

The Jubbaland Ministry of Internal Security has today issued a press statement on what it terms as “illegal” deployment of troops by the Somali Federal Government in Ras-Kambooni in the Jubbaland State of Somalia.

The Internal Security Ministry statement said that Federal Government of Somalia, which has lately been engaged in a tough and an unconstitutional ways to destabilize the Jubbaland state systems and carrying out illegal activities to disrupt peace and tranquility in the State.

The statement said that the FGS tried to occupy part of the Gedo region recently but failed miserably and has today again deployed an illegal army in Raas Kambooni.

The statement added that the government of Jubbaland state has confirmed that the army was clan-based and organized by the FGS from Mogadishu and has been illegally stationed in Ras-Kambooni.

It further says that the government of Jubbaland has also confirmed that there are no ATMIS troops who have left the Ras-Kambooni area to replace the troops deployed today.

The statement further notes that the Government of Jubbaland state as well confirmed that all the areas where the ATMIS forces have since left such as Bur Gaabo, Kudhaa, Abadala Birole, El-Waq and some parts of Kismayo are now under the control of the armed forces of the Jubbaland Government.

The press release adds added that government of Jubbaland also confirmed that there are no request made to the FGS to bring additional troops to Jubbaland state after the previous troops left the frontlines.

The Internal Security statement further confirms that the illegal forces deployed by the Federal Government of Somalia in the areas of Jubbaland state are only aimed at creating instability and insecurity in the Jubbaland state.

The statement further added that the Jubbaland government forces in the Ras-Kambooni area and the illegal forces brought today by the FGS are still facing each other. Therefore, the Jubbaland government wishes to inform the Somali community and the international community that the Federal Government of Somalia will be responsible for any negative consequences arising from the conflict in Ras-Kambooni.
