The Jubbaland state Electoral and Boundaries Commission has today held a meeting with traditional leaders of communities living in the Jubbaland state.
The leaders play a major role in the selection of Jubbaland state parliamentarians.
The meeting is part of the continued efforts by the poll commission to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process in the Jubbaland State of Somalia.
The Chairman of the Jubbaland poll commission, Dr. Mursal Siad Mohamed has explained to the media that the schedule of the elections will be followed to the latter and preparations are on top gears to hold the poll in accordance with the constitution and the agreements that will guide the process of democracy in Jubbaland regional state.
Dr. Mursal said that the commission has already held fruitful meetings and discussions with the leaders and intellectuals of the Jubbaland state to ensure that each community chooses the representative parliamentarians according to an agreed power distribution.
He has also emphasized the critical importance of cooperation from all parties to implement an electoral process that will serve the interest of the people and the government of Jubbaland state.
