Two Somali clans reached a preliminary agreement today to end recent inter-clan fighting in the Mudug region, following efforts led by a delegation from the Puntland and Galmudug administrations.

The fighting in the Jiicboor area, in the west of the Mudug region, has killed nearly 30 people and wounded more than 50 others, according to residents.

The delegation arrived at the locations where the fighting took place, held separate meetings with both sides to stop the conflict, and organized further formal meetings to address the issues.

The delegation reported that they succeeded in convincing both sides to cease fire and separate the opposing forces.

The conflict involved militias from the Sa’ad and Lelakase sub-clans in a rural area between Goldogob and Saah Qurun.
