Government forces in the Galgaduud region apprehended four individuals on Tuesday, suspected of the recent murders of two brothers, a government statement confirmed.
The suspects, apprehended in the Adalle area of the Middle Shabelle region, are believed to have been involved in the killing of Liban Hassan Osman, a respected Quranic school teacher, and his brother, Dr. Ahmed Hassan Osman, a dedicated doctor. Their deaths, occurring just two days prior to the arrests, led to an intensified security operation and have once again brought the issue of clan-based revenge killings into the spotlight.
According to the statement, the suspects were found in hiding, with security forces receiving a tip-off that led to their capture. This information was shared across various government agencies to facilitate the arrests.
The four suspects are scheduled to face trial in Guriceel.
The double homicide harkens back to a recent pattern of violence in the area. Just last month, two businessmen, Siad Tahliil Mohamed and Sheikh Hassan Diirshe, were killed in Dhusamareb in a similar act of apparent revenge.
