Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has today announced that the federal government has allocated a budget for three thousand new teachers in 2024.
Prime Minister Barre congratulated Somali teachers, students, and families on the commemoration of Somali Teachers Day on November 21.
He emphasized that the government is attaching particular importance to the development of teachers and the education of Somali children, considering it a crucial part of the ongoing efforts to rebuild the country.
Several months ago, the federal government hired a record 3,000 new teachers to address a significant education gap. This initiative followed a four-fold increase in the budget of the Somali Ministry of Education for 2023.
