Security forces shot dead a suicide bomber who attempted to blow himself up at the entrance of the Jaalle Siyaad military training academy in the Somali capital, Mogadishu today.

Security officials reported that there were no casualties among the army, emphasizing that the military was on high alert to thwart the machinations of terror groups.

The Somalia-based al-Shabab, Al-Qaida’s affiliate in East Africa, claimed responsibility for the attack, saying that they killed seven soldiers.

In July, a suicide bomber targeted the Jaalle Siyaad military training academy, resulting in the deaths of 30 soldiers and injuries to over 70 others. During the same month, Somali authorities arrested 14 people, including officers and soldiers, in connection with a suicide bombing that targeted the military academy in Mogadishu.
