US-trained Special Forces known as Danab conducted an operation in the Galmudug region on Sunday morning, killing at least 18 al-Shabaab militants.
Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Abdirahman Yusuf Al-Adala said that the operation was carried out in the Budbud and Gal’ad areas of the Galgaduud region.
According to a government military official, the forces destroyed al-Shabaab’s caves, which served as storage facilities for poison and other explosives.
Last week, forty al-Shabab militants were killed by Somali National Army (SNA)’s elite forces, Danab, during a joint operation with regional and international forces in the lower Juba region of southern Somalia.
