Somali government says its hosting conference on frontline countries in Mogadishu

The Federal Government of Somalia has issued an official statement that a conference will be held in Mogadishu with the participation of the leaders of the countries with their troops in Somalia.

The conference will include military commanders of neighboring countries officially known as the front line countries which are four countries that share a common border.

The conference is said to be discussing the strengthening of security cooperation, speeding up operations against Al-Shabaab terror group and directing the forces operating under the ATMIS mission

The Ministers of Defense of Somalia, Djibouti, Kenya and Ethiopia are participating in this conference which has opened today in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.

This meeting of the Ministers of Defense of Somalia, Kenya, Djibouti and Ethiopia is also a prelude to tomorrow’s conference in which the heads of these countries will participate. The meeting will be chaired by the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

The Federal Government of Somalia will present the general situation of the country, especially the operations against the Al-Shabaab group and the best ways the frontline forces can tackle the threat of terrorism and purge them out of Somalia.
