Somalia PM announces budget increase to Disability Agencies in Somalia

The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamse Abdi Barre, who today participated in an event to commemorate the International Day of People with Special Needs organized by the Ministry of Women and Human Rights of Somalia said the day is critical for understanding people with special needs in in the society.

Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre said that the Somali government will increase the budget of the Somali Disability Agency to maximumly cater for people with special needs.

“Our country is different from other countries in the world in terms of the number of people who are disabled due to the bombings and brutal attacks of the Khawarijs (Al-Shabaab group) which has greatly led to a significant increase in the number of Somali people who are disabled,” said Prime Minister Hamse.

Every year, the world celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and it is worth noting that the Federal Government of Somalia is one of the governments that signed the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
