Representative Ilhan Omar of the Democratic Party in power in the United States, was elected for the third time to represent the Fifth District of the Minnesota Congress.
Ilhan Omar, who became the first Somali woman to be elected to the US Congress since 2018, received 51 percent of the votes.
She defeated rival Samuels with 48 percent of the vote.
“This seat is for everyone in my district, regardless of who they love, how they pray, the color of their skin, and even how they vote, and I will continue to fight for all of you,” she said. Ilhan Omar when she won.
