Governor of Hiiraan region, Ali Jeyte Osman, and members of the federal parliament has arrived in Mogadishu today to accelerate the ongoing offensive against Al Shabab in central Somalia.
The governor and his delegation will meet with federal authorities in the capital to discuss the completion of anti-al-Shabab terrorist operations.
The governor’s delegation included Hirshabelle regional lawmaker Mohamed Abduqadir Mohamed and two federal MPs, Mohamed Abdullahi Buralle and Guhad Abdulle Jimale.
According to security analysts, during the last three months of security operations, Somali forces inflicted massive casualties on al Shabab militants.
Somali National Army, backed by local militia groups, said they killed at least 100 al-Shabab militants during heavy fighting in Hiiraan’s El-Hareri village on Thursday.
Abdullahi Ali Anod, a spokesman for the defence ministry, told reporters in Mogadishu that 100 al-Shabab fighters were killed during the “intense operation.”
