The number of displaced people in the northern areas of Kismayo particularly in Luglow area is increasing rapidly in the wake of the biting drought that has ravaged many parts of the Jubbaland State of Somalia.
The pictures below depicts a massive displacement of people camped in IDP camps. They drought-affected IDPs are now camping at Dalcadda, Luglow area in Kismayo.
The displaced people are mostly farmers and pastrolists who fled from drought in different parts of Jubbaland state and are now camping in tattered make shift tents made of shacks.
The displaced people said their plight is so severe and only waiting for help from the Jubbaland regional government as well as other aid organizations.
A spot check by Radio Kismayo revealed that the number of IDPs in Luglow area has increased in the recent past as more and more drought displaced people flock to Luglow IDP camps.
The displaced people hail from different parts of Jubbaland state including districts of Middle Jubba region, Afmadow, Jamame among other areas.
According to Jubbaland Refugees and IDPs Affairs deputy chairman, Mohamed Sheikh Khadar, the displacement of people has been high and has doubled in the last three months adding that more people have been flocking to the displaced camps in Luglow area.
