Somali government forces killed 30 al Shabab militants and recaptured several villages in the Middle Shabelle region following special security operations on Tuesday.
The military forces took control of Jamee’o Misra, Maqdis, Baardheere, Gaashaanle, Tugaareey, Jamee’o Mubaarak, Doonka Mahaa Colow and Maansaale, all of which are located in the east of Bal’ad district in the Middle Shabelle region.
Former military Colonel Osman Hadole, a Somali Parliament member, told the media that the military force had killed 30 al Shabab militants and that operations would continue.
Burundi troops under the African Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) were part of the military forces conducting the operations in the region.
Colonel Hadole stated that the army is determined to drive al-Shabab out of the Middle Shabelle region.
On October 16, Somali forces recaptured several villages, including Yaaqle, Mukadheere, Dhagahoow, Kooraabe, Shanloow and Farbaraki in the Bal’ad district.
