The Jubbaland Minister for Health, Mohamed A. Ogle, together with the Deputy Minister of the Ministry, Dr. Ahmed Sadiq and officials from the Ministry have yesterday met with a delegation from UNFPA, led by the UNFPA Representative in Somalia, Niyi Ojuolape and head of UNFPA Somalia office, Dr Abdullahi Abdirisak.
Dr Claudio Donkor and Dr Abdullahi Abdirisak, who are the officials of the UNFPA Agency, gave reports on the ongoing UNFPA projects in Jubbaland regional state and the goal of the agency in participating in the development of healthcare, especially maternal and newborn care.
The heads of UNFPA said that they will strengthen the work of the projects they undertake in Jubbaland state, especially in the Department of Health and Maternal and Child Care to be part of the programs to improve Community Health and also participate in the plan to find solutions to the basic needs.
The Jubbaland Health Minister, Mohamed A. Ogle, praised the role of UNFPA in the development of health and its commitment to cooperation based on the improvement of Jubaland’s health sector, especially in aiding hard to reach areas by specifically supporting in Maternal and Child Care.
The Jubbaland Health minister said that they will strengthen their cooperation with UNFPA and mentioned that the UNFPA organization should participate in the delivery of obstetric surgery services to save mothers and babies in the districts of Elwaq, Badhadhe and Burdhubo, which are in great need of the services.
In this regard, UNFPA is particularly focused on saving and caring for mothers and newborns.
