The Acting Ambassador of the Somali Federal Government to Ethiopia and Chargé d’Affaires of the Somali Embassy to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Somalia (UNECA), Shafi’i Nur Alas Farah has received the Permanent Secretary
of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chile, Alex Wetzig and the Ambassador of the Republic of Chile to Ethiopia Ambassador Fernando Zalaquett at the Somali Embassy in Addis Ababa.
The meeting was the result of a recent request from the Embassy of the Republic of Chile in Addis Ababa to the Somali Federal Government Embassy in Ethiopia, based on the request for diplomatic support for the Republic of Chile by the Somali Republic, as the Government of Chile is vying for office at the United Nations Human Rights Council.
The Republic of Chile has called on the Government of Somalia to support and give the Government of Chile a formal voice at the UN General Assembly.
The United Nations Human Rights Council is a United Nations body whose mission is to promote and protect human rights around the world.
